Svenska nomineringar 2007

RAMBO AB

“Rambo AB is a leading organisation in Sweden with regard to waste handling and waste reduction and carries both certification according to ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and AFS 2001:1 (work environment). The organisation has all 4 sites separately registered to EMAS. Rambo AB:s mission is to take care of waste from other organisations and in doing so being able to manage to handle all types of wastes in an optimal way with high degrees of waste reductions parallel to making use of the waste for different market purposes. The continuous improvement of the environmental work of Rambo has led the highest degree of re-use of waste recorded – over 90%”.

GUSTAVSBERG AB, VÅRGÅRDA

“Product development at Gustavsberg AB, Vårgårda has resulted in an aluminium recycling rate at 100%. The manufacturing process has also lead to a dramatic reduction in the use of chromium. A strong reduction in the need for machining such as grinding and polishing saves large amounts of waste in the form of environmentally hazardous dust. Co-design approaches has lead to a unique water-saving solution thereby reducing energy loss through unnecessary warmwater tapping”.

STORA ENSO PACKAGING BOARDS

“A successful and long-lasting environmental work has reduced to amount of waste to landfill to neglectable levels compared to the situation 10 years ago - only 0,2% goes to landfill and the remaining part to reuse and energy recovery. An example of the creative environmental work focusing on waste handling is the development of a special commercially available product made of the waste to be used primarily for tightening landfills to prevent leaching. Stora Enso has a long list of innovative solutions at hand whereby the waste could be used as useful input materials for a number of practical market applications”.
